Rockin' New Years Day

Apologies to Dick Clark.

Celebrated the New Year close to home on Rock Springs Run. In the water at 9:15, out at 5:15. Saw about 20 other paddlers, 7 in one group. As there are already 2 Rock Springs Run reports on Dave's Yak Tales , I'll let the pictures tell the story.

So that's where the green herons are! They didn't go too far, I guess. We have none on our rivers right now, though they are plentiful in summer. Lucky you--they are such cool birds!

Yes they are. Cool. I have to admit, my pictures don't compare to the ones on your site. I'm in awe of anyone who can get a closeup of a belted kingfisher. Like on you New Year's Eve paddle.
