Sanibel, Day One

White pelicans, Wildlife Drive, Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. On the way to kayak launch number 2.
 On the water at 10:15

 Paddling alongside Wildlife Drive

Open waters across from the second observation tower

Ospreys

 Landed at 12:40
1:55 at the Shell Island Beach Club. No memory as to why the long gap between pictures. Other than loading the kayak and driving time.

The view from 16D.  Shared with my sister, soon to be brother in law, niece, her husband, and great niece.
Great nephew Phineas, with nephew Jack

Nephew Evan.  With a appropriate beer for the co-owner of the WeCycle Bike Shop in Key West
 Great nephew Cannon, sister-in-law Eileen

Great niece Oliva, with cousin, Phin.  The pool action was at the main area of the Shell Island Beach Club.  Brother Pat has had a week there for over 30 years.  He got the week at 16D as the family grew.  He, and good friends the Bennetts own a unit, 5C. Nephew Evan and his family were in that one.  If you want to stay in 5C, see the Sanibel Rental link on the right.
16D is separated from 12D and 5C by another set of condos.

Which is a good excuse for walking the beach to and fro.

 Mergansers

Search for a missing kayaker. Body was found on December 19.

Someone commented that brother Pat, and his oldest, Derek, have the same walk.  They do.  For some reason I found the toes pointed out gait easy to imitate

Sun sets on day one at Sanibel
