Welcome 2015 Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run

Well, I was not able to get the Friday after New Year's off and spend another holiday in Cedar Key.  So,  I did the next best thing.
On the water at Wekiwa Springs State Park at 7:25 AM

First gator of the New Year
 Down the Wekiva

 Up Rock Springs Run

Saw  a couple vultures, and then
Deer carcass
Not to far up Run, a mourner

Some sort of material caught on the anhinga's beak.

Turned around just before 10.  20-30 minutes up stream of the Big Buck Camp site

The anhinga tried rubbing his beak against the tree to get the material off.  Did not work. Saving this bird would be  two person job.  It hopped away, along the downed tree from me, as I tried to approach.

Nature's janitors

 Back to the Wekiva

My phone rang.  Which was unusual.  I get very few calls, and I rarely have it with me.  I had it because the night before, I looked at it for the first time in a couple days and had a couple texts from a friend I had not heard from in a while.  I texted back, 2 days later.  So, I had the phone in case she called, or texted again.  I looked at the phone.  "Fuck 'em Bucky"  Not Stephanie, but brother Andy.  Getting ready to watch the Outback Bowl.

Landed at 12:30
Stopped halfway up the hill for a sandwich and to respond to Andy's text.  He kept me updated on the game.
 Biked to Sand Lake.
Began a hike

To Lake Prevatt

Walked almost 2 hours. On an ankle still  bit sore after twisting it at Cedar Key on Sunday

 Bike back to the car.
Found the game on the car radio in time for the last play. Andy and I exchanged texts. "Doink!"
 Snorkel in the Springs

A great start to 2015

Yes. It was a great way to start 2015. I am way behind following your tales but will get there.
