St. Johns River at Blue Spring

Launched from French Avenue, at 8:20 AM, Monday morning

If you expand the photo below, you may see and eagle in flight

It took me a while to find it in the Spanish moss and leaves of a large live oar

Tagged manatee at the edge of the spring run.  It is a satellite tracker.  Used on manatees that were injured, taken to manatee rehab, made better, and released back into the wild.  They are watched to see how they are doing.  This one was with several others.  Social interaction is one thing the scientists hope for.

Always nice to get good belted kingfisher photos.
Extremely flighty birds.

Black crowned night heron
Limpkin
Together

Into Snake Creek

I have been seeing a lot of these birds lately.  Thanks to a much better photo by a freind on Facebook, Sunday, I knew it was a northern mockingbird

Long stretch of duck weed.

With the mother of all alligators at the end

Back on the St. Johns

Coot

Blockage on the back side of the island across from French Ave
I was able to paddle through

Landed at 11:04.  Made it toe work. On time, at 12:30. With a stop at Publix for my lunch/dinner sub.

Well, I tried to allow Anonymous postngs. As soon as I did, I had the same problem with the same person/spammer posting comments. One jerk spoils it for all. So,you'll need to register to post a comment.
