Lake Norris

My Seminole State Forest permit is good until the 23rd.  But, a Turkey hunt began Saturday, through the 23rd.   Not wanting to take any chances, I decided not to paddle Blackwater Creek.

Instead, I paddled Blackwater Creek.  From the Lake Norris Conservation Area.  No hunting.  Launched at 9:20.

Upstream paddle.  SUPers coming the other way said it was too windy for them on Lake Norris

It was windy, but the cypress trees provide a wind break.

Osprey nest below. I did not see a single osprey.

Egrets, on the other hand....

Back at the rookery

..

I was wise to have turned around. The wind picked up.

Back in the protection of Blackwater Creek

The launch site, I kept going down Blackwater Creek
The sign below states, "Waterway Not Passable Beyond  This Point"

2nd not passable sign.  I passed it.
Did not get far.  If I had too, I could have pushed over the log. But, there would be more, so I turned around.

Landed at 12:17.  Put a non leaking tube in the off road bike (not mountain, this is Florida) and went for a ride.

Had a nice long chat with a lady camping. Told her it was the first time I had seen anyone there. Julie M. used to be a kayak guide in Key West.  She did not know my Keys family

Park at the parking area at 2:20.  A short Sunday adventure.  Had time to pressure wash the house when I got home. More important, time to post this Tale before 9 PM.
