I was going to the Yankeetown Seafood Festival later in the day, so I went to the ramp west of town, at the end of Follow That Dream Parkway. It was busy when I arrived, so I looked for launch site other than the boat ramp.
Bird Island Beach is adjacent to the boat ramp. Tide was out. Mudflats extended out into Withlacooche Bay.
Just outside the ramp parking area is a nice, flat, rock free area. Unfortunately, it is posted Private Property. However, just before that was a small relatively rock free area.
A few pickups, one with a T-bar were parked on the other side of the Parkway. That is where I launched. On the water at 9:00.
