Callalisa Creek
Only the second time I have paddled this waterway in New Smyrna Beach. It must have been before October, 2007. beacuse I can't find a Yak Tale for it. Can't even find an email sent to family and friends.Launched from Callalisa Park, at the intersection of the South 44 Causeway and Penninsula Ave, at 1:05 I choose to paddle Callalisa to be closer to the venues for the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival. On Friday I paddled at the National Seashore before heading to Jazz Fest, hope to do the same on Sunday.
There were just a few small boats on the Creek. It is very tidal, so large boats stay away.My planned short paddle was a little longer because I took a wrong turn on my way back to Callalisa Park. The Creek has multiple side channels, some natural, some not.Landed at 2:50.Off to the Jazz Festival. Today bands were performing at bars and restaurants on or near Flagler Ave.First stop was Clancy's Cantina. A $13 cocktail is way over my budget. So no Skinny Irishman. Espeacialy when the margarita wa 5 bucks.
Dixieland from Kid Dutch and his New Orleans Band.
Down Flagler Ave for Tony Wynn and TW6
Next stop, Flagler Tavern, for Ella and the Bossa Beat
The Flagler Ave strip runs from the Atlantic (just beyoond the arch, to the Indian River.Where I saw my last act of the day, the Greg Parnell Group. No picures or video of the band. I could not see Mr. Parnell, the drummer, as a pilllar was in the way. I was going to film as I left, but of course when I did, the band took a break.A few pics on the way to my car.
