No Name Key

Seven Mile Bridge on the way to Key West.
TO my surprise, 40 or so miles prior, there is no parking at all to access Ligumvitae and Indian Keys. Not even the limited parjing of the last few years. I continued on to No Name Key.

Withlacooche River, Bay, and more

I was going to the Yankeetown Seafood Festival later in the day, so I went to the ramp west of town, at the end of Follow That Dream Parkway. It was busy when I arrived, so I looked for launch site other than the boat ramp. Bird Island Beach is adjacent to the boat ramp. Tide was out. Mudflats extended out into Withlacooche Bay.
Just outside the ramp parking area is a nice, flat, rock free area. Unfortunately, it is posted Private Property. However, just before that was a small relatively rock free area.
A few pickups, one with a T-bar were parked on the other side of the Parkway. That is where I launched. On the water at 9:00.
I paddled up the River

Hillsborough River

With the Glen Lakes Kayak Club and Adventures in Florida. 20 paddlers from the former, 2 guides, Dana and I, from the latter.
I was the leader, on the River at 10:28.
Took about 10 minutes to get everyone launched.
Could have been longer. 3 people were unable to make it.
All of the photos in this Tale were taked with my Iphone 7 Plus. My camera is finicky. Did not want to mess around with it today. Ordered a refurbished camera Monday. It is scheduled to arrive Dec 4-24. Cable company must be the delivery service.
The Hillsborough is running low and clear. It is spring fed. Crystal Springs.

The fleet came in at 12:33. This was the last of 3 fall paddles for the GLKC. They will start op again in the spring.
As always, they invited Dana and I to join them for lunch. We had to decline. It takes awhile to load 16 kayaks on two trailers.
Dana and I stopped at the Taco Bus in Plant City>
Had a bit of excitement on the way back to the Pfarm. A kayak came off of one of the trailers. On I4. I was able to avoid it as it spun from the center lane into the left lane. I pulled on to the left shoulder. By the time I got out of the van and ran back, two drivers had stopped behind me, blocking and directing traffic. One of them and I got the kayak out of the road, and on the trailer. I could not thank them enough.
