Wekiva River

It is also a treat to see roseate spoonbills. Especialy at a location were they are rare. I have never seen a spoonbill after launching from Wekiwa Springs State Park. I paddled 15 years from Katie's Landing before I saw my first spoonbill on the Wekiva. I don't think I have ever seen more than 2, and I am not certain of that number.
Today, on a short paddle, I saw 7.
I did a car bike shuttle. Dropped the kayak at Wilson's Landing, drove to Katie's Landing, left the car, and made the short bike ride back to Wilson's.
On the River, in a drizzle, at 1:30

Canaveral National Seashore, Apollo Beach end

Launched from Lot 6. Which used to be Lot 7, but in a reverse Big Yellow Taxi, the National Seashore has converted the old Lot 6 back to nature.
When I pulled up to the launch site, Mosquito Lagoon was calm. By the time I got on the water, the wind picked up.

Silver River and Cedar Key

Began the day with a short walk from Cabin 8 in Silver Springs State Park.
Frances and I checked out, shuttled a vehicle to Rays Wayside, and launched from a busy Silver Springs State Park before 10 AM. Excact time unknown as I only have iphone pics. Laptop won't read my SD cards.

Sawpit Creek

The boat ramp parking lot at Sawpit Creek doubles as a trailhead for the Timucuan Trail. My brother Pete and I pedaled 4.5 miles on the fantastic trail to the launch at Simpson Creek. That launch was not paddleable at low tide.

Launched from Marsh Landing, Part of Shingle Creek Regional Park. A City of Kissimmee facility. Underway at 1:09.
Cattle and ranching are prominent in Osceola County. The annual Silver Spurs Rodeo is the largest east of the Mississippi.
Most of the homes on the section of the Creek I was on were older and on the smaller side.
