Haulover Canal

The marine forcast called for smooth seas on the Intracostal Waterway, so I made another attempt to see, and photo, the flaminngos at Mullet Head Island.
On the water at 12:55.
Towing may be how this guy motors his sailboat as I did not see an outboard on the stern.
Mullett Head Island
I counted 20 flamingos.

Wekiva River

A spoonbil flew by, upstream, as prepared to launch.
On the River at 12:38. Headed up stream to see if I could find the spoonbill, but it was too shallow in the alternate channel.

Haulover Canal

The flamingos are back! I last saw the flamingos that Hurricane Idalia blew in a couple years ago last June or July. Last week, I saw a post, with photos on the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge Facebook page. Unfortunately, the marine weather has been more condusive for kite flying then kayaking. Until today, when a light chop was forecast.
Into Haulover Canal from Bairs Cove at 12:30.

Lake Mills

Paddled here because it is relatively close to Fort Christmas Park. Which was having the annual Bluegrass in the Park. A very windy paddle. I was only on the Lake 30 minutes. The good news is, between Bluegrass in the Park and the Maitland Jazz and Blues Festival, I saw 8 bands today. Plus 2 Friday, in Maitland.
I put in at Lake Mills Park at 10:40. A Seminole County Park with a 14 site primitive campground.
A dead end residential canal offered respite from the wind and waves.
