Had to get on the water on Leap Day. Or, as it is known in Wisconsin, Leroy Butler Day.
It was windy.
On the water for 28 minutes.

Lakes Maitland and Osceola

The great blue was very determined. I first watched it from shore. I could not tell what the heron had, because the snake was balled up. Eventually, it uncoiled. The heron dropped and picked it up from the dock, several times. I got in my kayak to get photos and video with the sun behind me. It walked up the dock, and went behind the bushes to finish the job

Hillsborough River

Hillsborough River

Kayaking, a Blues Festival, and trailer camping
Underway from Morris Bridge Park at 8:30
Kakaying up the Hillsborough
The first swallow tail kites of the season. I first heard their distinctive high pitched cry. There were about 8, soring.
Always good to see a roseate spoonbill. The Hillsbrough River is the first place I saw one away from the coasts.
The sunny, relatively cool day was great fr gator viewing
