Wekiva River

From Wilson's Landing.
A late start, 1:30. Rain all morning. I called Kelly Park, asked if it was full. No. Full when I arrived. Wekiwa Springs State Park was also full. So, off to Wilson's. No one was there.
All photos are with an Iphone 7. No space on the laptop to download camera photos
Paddling south on the Wekiva. Upstream.

Big Coppitt Key

As usual, began the day with a walk

Simonton Beach and Salt Run

A new launch spot for me. Simonton Beach is .04 miles from my lodging at Rowan Manor. Drove there, dropped of the kayak, walked back. Parking in Key West is expensive.
On the water at 8:26. Brother in law Bill said I should paddle out to Wisteria Island. But, it was a bit bumpy. Even before tour boats began to zoom by. So I headed to the shelter of the docks.
And got my first in the water view of the Schoner Hindu. I should say me in the water.

No Name Key

Began the day at Satelite Beach
I was impressed Jack and Alana were on the beach before me. Jack said it comes from working 2 jobs.
We all could have stayed in bed a little longer as the sun's appearance was delayed.

Wekiva River

Saw spoonbills (2) on the Wekiva near Katies Landing, for just the 2nd time.
The alternate channel, paddling downstream from Katie's Landing, was blocked. That turned out to be a goood thing.

Estacada Lake, Estacada Oregon

Morning walk at the Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge
Trout Creek
Beautiful scenery and amenities like the sauna, at the Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge.
Some of you may be familiar with the Church
of the Double Bladed Paddle. The founder of that congregation, Casle, lives nearby. She came over and we headed to Estacada Lake.
We were on the water at 10:35
Flowers coming out of the stone.
The lake is formed by a pair of dams. It is narrow, more river like than lake. We paddled from dam to dam and back.
The lake had at least 2 waterfalls flowing into it.

Did not see much wildlife. Writing a month after the fact, I recall belted kingfishers. The scenery, and company, was wonderful.
One of the 2 dams.
Casle treated be to lunch. Hopefully she will visit Florida someday and I can return the favor.
Another walk back at the Lodge.
