Haulover Canal

The plan was to watch a manned SpaceX launch from my kayak at Eddy Creek. But, they were not letting people into the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore. So, I was going to watch it from land, under the Max Brewer Causeway.

The launch was postponed due to rain with about 60 seconds left in the countdown. It did rain hard for a while as I drove to Bair's Cove and the Haulover Canal. The Refuge and Seashore had reopened.

The Maitland covered bridge is uncovered, again. Last time, a truck hit it. This time, it just collapased. It happened on June 11. I have a picture of the topless bridge on June 15. Somehow, I made no mention of it.

I was on Lake Maitland at 8:40.

I saw a lot of these signs on my West Coast road trip, and again last week in Tennesse. This was just before Devil's Lake State Park. In the Baraboo Hills.

This was my firsrt visit to Devils Lake. It felt like a Florida Park. Lots of out of state plates. And not just from Illinois.
