Wekiva River and Blackwater Creek

59
It had been a long 5 days since I had been on the water.  Monday, at Cedar Key. Worked that night, and every day since. Including Saturday morning, January 10, 2015.
Launched from Katie's Landing at 12:50

Paddled down the Wekiva River

Approaching Blackwater Creek

Blackwater Creek

Did not go to the usual turn around spot.   A noisy motor boat, a rare sight on the Creek, had passed me. No point in continuing after its racket, so I turned back.

Woodstork

The area near the confluence of Blackwater Creek and the Wekiva River was teeming with great egrets, ibis, and a few woodstorks

First non white bird in a while. Blue heron

 Landed at 5:25

Thought it would be a good time to look for deer. Drove to the end of Wekiva Park Road.  Which is not a road in a park. No deer.  Turned around, past the entrance to Katie's Landing. Scanning the sides of the road.  Not paying attention to what was right in front of me.
So the deer ran off into the woods.
