Apostle Island National Lakeshore

Check out morning at the Pine Arbor Resort.
After waking up to fog and rain all week, the last morning, I get this. No morning walk, as check out was 9 AM.
Driving along Chequamegon Bay on my way to Meyers Beach on Lake Superior.
On the Lake at 12:05. It took a while. Meyers Beach is part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. A helpful ranger quized me about my paddling skills, and help me, and others figure out the parking pay system. I was surprised how busy it was on a weekday after Labor Day. Access to the beach requires walking down stairs. About 2 flights. Wide and gradual. My first launch attempt I took on a lot of water. Dragged the kayak back to shore, emptied it, and tried again. Success. Fastened my spray skirt once I was in the Lake. Glad I haad tested it out the day before.
Superior's waves were finally large. I was a bit surprised so many tour groups were out. On the other hand, no one was behind me. Waiting for things to improve, perhaps.
