Wekiva River

Today's paddle was for The Florida Springs Council's SpringsWatch

I joined 8 other volunteers to take measurements of light, water quailty, and more at several locations on the Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run. I just paddled. This was my second SpringsWatch Session, the first was in Fenurary.

We were on the water just under 2 hours. From Wekiva Island (who provided the canoes)to Wekiwa Springs State Park, back to Rock Springs Run, than just past Wekiva Island before landing.

I had an early lunch of a chicken sandwich and sat with a trio of my colleauges before going on to Wekiwa Springs State Park. Back in the cooler month of Feburarry, I went kayaking after SpringsWatch, today a short hike and bike ride. Resting up for tommorrow. Will be unloading and loading 17 kayaks for the Glen Lakes Kayak Club at the Dora Canal. Thankfully I have a young and strong fellow guide from Adventures in Florida.

There were several gopher tortises along the Park road.

I would have taken a dip in the Spring, but there were no parking spaces in the section above the Spring. Which meant it was too crowded for my liking. Took a dip in the communityh pool when I got home. After I reduced some of the clutter on the dining/Dave's Yak Tales compostion table.
