Fort DeSoto Trailer Camping

Took a bike ride to get an unobstructed view of the sunrise over Tampa Bay.

Only to  be obstructed. Campers can't get into the day use area of Fort DeSoto until the park opens at 8 AM like everybody else
So, I settled for this.

Paddling past the campsite
Distant white pelicans

Sunshine Skyway

Anna Maria

Bonne Fortune Key bridge.  The road goes to the Park's maintenance facility is for employees only.  So, a very quiet and boat free area.

St. Petersburg

Landed at 2:40

.

Gulf Pier

Egmont Key and lighthouse

Hoped to see some fish in the battery

Not a flashlight battery, a cannon emplacement

Saw nothing.  Some guys on the beach said sometimes lobster are in there.

The fort at Fort Desoto.  Begun in 1898 at the outbreak of the Spanish-American War.

Dry batteries

Ending my Fort DeSoto weekend with the view from the Fort
