Shipyard Island, Blue Spring

Working from home has its advantages.  Like clocking in, in my underwear.  Only happens when I wake up a little late.  No commute, breakfast in front of the work screen, all saves time.  So I can put in more time Monday through Thursday.  And be on the Mosquito Lagoon at the Canaveral National Seashore at 2:30 on Thursday. Taking Friday off.

More fiddler crabs

Thinking Irma blew the dock in here.

Exiting Shipyard Island

Lamded at 4:46. Two hours fifteen minutes on the water.
The Seashore part of the Canaveral National Seashore was closed.
Bethune Beach was open

As long as I was so close, paddling on the other side of a barrier island, I had to check out the big water.
Not with the kayak, however.  That was on the St. Johns River near Blue Springs State Park.
On the River from the French Avenue ramp at 6:17

Over Blue Spring

Down the Run.

Landed and walked to the spot to enter the Spring Run

Into the water.

Swimming with gar down the Run
Not quite the tourist attraction as swimming with manatees.

When I got out at the dock, a ranger pointed out blue crabs. I had never seen them at Blue Springs.
Did not show up in the photo

Back in the kayak

 Landed at 8:07

A salt water and a spring water paddle after work. Plus a swim.  Not a bad way to start the weekend.
