Suwannee River, New Year's Day. Dowling Park to Lafayette Blue Springs

New Year's Day walk at Lafayette Blue Springs State Park

"Primitive" campground.   With electric, water and an outhouse. Empty on New Year's Day.  On the Eve, two sites were occupied
The primitive part is it is walk, or paddle in. Not a far walk at all from the parking area. And, there is a wheelbarrow for your gear.

Small sink, past the entrance station, below.

Two deer skeletons, just outside the Park boundary

My Cabin, number 3.
Beginning the 11.2 bike ride to Dowling Park. I had earlier driven there and dropped off my kayak.  And made a stop at the State Park Ranger station to buy a new Annual Pass. Lafayette Blue Springs has a South section, where the spring, cabins, and campground is, and a non-contiguous North Section with the Ranger station and trails.   The ranger told me they can't build a permanent, on the ground entrance station on the South section because it is in a 100 year flood plain. The North section is on higher ground.

The bike ride took about 50 minutes
On the Suwannee at 11:44

Exposed roots. A result of rising and falling water levels?   Adding, or taking away the soil.

Allen Mill Pond Spring water.  It was deep enough that a motorboat was pretty far up the Run. Not deep enough to paddle all the way to the Spring.

Landed at 4:30.   A brief drive through the North section of Lafayette Blue Springs State Park on the

way to get my bike.  A final look at Allen Mill Pond Spring Run
